HIS Gathered

A novel series of the Book of Mormon

HIS Gathered

One fold. One shepherd.

A father leaves Jerusalem on the word of the Lord, and his sons become two peoples, each sure it is in the right. Nine books follow both sides of that family for a thousand years, to a record buried in a hill. Three more follow the record out of the ground, walk the whole human story to the day He comes again, and tell the story of the family the record came to.

The books open together when the last one is finished.

“You were never mine to keep. You belong to the Lord.”

Scripture & Story

The verse, word for word. Then what it was like to be there.

In the Book of Mormon novels, every chapter opens with the verse it lives inside, exactly as written. Where the record is silent, the story fills in the people who were there.

Scripture1 Nephi 2:4

And it came to pass that he departed into the wilderness. And he left his house, and the land of his inheritance, and his gold, and his silver, and his precious things, and took nothing with him, save it were his family, and provisions, and tents, and departed into the wilderness.

StoryBook 1, Chapter 6, “Into the Wilderness”

Sariah's fingers find the lead rope before she is fully awake, the rough fiber familiar against her palm in the gray before dawn. Her free hand holds her shawl closed against the cold. She is forty-eight years old, and this is the last morning she will wake inside these walls. She stands in the courtyard of the house that has been hers for thirty years and looks at the gate.

She counts her children as she has counted them every morning since they were born.

The twelve books

One road, from Jerusalem to the coming again

Twelve books, read in order. Each one is a complete story, and each one hands the next a family that remembers what the last one cost.

All twelve are written in draft. They open together, on Papalocal Books, when the last one is finished.

What the name means

Gathering His

Everyone who believes in Jesus Christ, gathered into one fold under one shepherd. That is who these books are written for.

  1. Readers from thirteen to eighty

Plain enough for a teenager to keep turning pages, and deep enough that a grandparent is never talked down to.

  2. Every believer in Christ

Other sheep I have which are not of this fold. The books are written for anyone who follows Him, whatever church they sit in.

  3. Anyone who loves a family saga

Two brothers' children grow into two nations. Each side tells the story its own way, and the books let both sides speak.
